Our New Pastor, Reverend Kenneth R. Jones
A native of Los Angeles, California, Pastor Jones graduated from Pepperdine University. While attending Pepperdine University he was a member of the debate team; spent six-months at an internship in Juneau, Alaska for the Alaskan Youth Village and served as a counselor for the Compton Action Center for Youth Development. Pastor Jones was licensed to preach in 1977 at a Baptist Church in Compton, California. Pastor Jones was ordained for the Pastorate in 1983 and planted a church in the same year where he served until 1989. In June of 1989 he was called to the Pastorate of the Greater Union Baptist Church in Compton, California. In addition to his ministry at Greater Union Baptist Church, Pastor Jones served as Sunday School Director and Chairman of the Credentials Committee for the Long Beach Harbor Association of the California Southern Baptist Convention and has taught seminary extension courses for Golden Gate Seminary on Galatians and Church History. Pastor Jones has also served as Dean of Compton-Lynwood Academy for C. U. R. E, is a board member of Rafiki Foundation, and is a co-host on the nationally syndicated “Theological Radio Talk show”, the White Horse Inn. Pastor Jones has contributed articles for Modern Reformation and is a frequent contributor to Ligonier Ministries’ Tabletalk magazine. Pastor Jones and his wife Lisa have been married since 1980 and have one son, Kenny who is 25 years old.
